I also captured my short trip by taking a photo at average once every ten seconds. Purchasing a traditional waterproof case for my camera would cost me in the thousands so with a inspiration and a budget of $100 I went to work on making my own.

First stop B&H, I purchased a Pelican 1300 case.

Next stop True Value hardware store were I got a small saw to cut open a hole on its side for the lens view.

From there I traveled to my friends at Act 2 Glass located on Utica Ave. At Act 2 Franky carefully cut me a piece of heavy plexyglass attaching it with gorilla glue and sealing the edges for maximum protection.

Then I realized I need to get a water proof case for my radio remote that will trigger my camera while on the water. So back to B&H I go were I got a DiCAPac 560 Water tight bag.

My total expences
Case $54.94
Saw $7.99
Glass $20
Clear case $21.88

Total: $104.81 (plus tax) not bad.

Testing time:

I submerged my case in my home tub and held it for 5 minutes under water. It passed. I still wonder about pressure of going deeper then 20 feet below surface I guess when I am ready to go that deap ill retest it, for now. It will do.

Text shot 1: On the lake I dunked my case in with my camera, the results. Perfect.

Mounting the box to the kayak submerging the box, and taking a fun video over the trip turned out to have some nice results minus the murky geese.. filled waters.

Video goes under water at :55 Second mark.

I can’t wait to bring this to a swimming pool and onto my next snorkeling trip
